Why Would I Hire A Coach?

A birthday message I sent to my coach on his 44th trip round the sun.
Dear Coach,
You have been the largest investment I have made in one payment. Ever. More than the deposit on my home. More than any other coaching programme. And yet you were also the easiest yes.
The moment you spoke these words "the difference is, I don't see Lisa as someone who needs handling" I knew I was all in. I knew you listened differently. I knew you loved deeper. I knew you looked into someone's soul, and heard them, truly heard them. I knew you saw me. And I will never forget those words or that feeling of being FULLY understood, heard and accepted.
You have held space for so many of my tears, my fears, my anger, my frustration, my laughter, my joy, my ideas, my creations. I never have to play small with you for fear or being judged, or compared, or criticised. Quite the opposite, I have a knife's edge digging permanently into my side these days! Thank you for encouraging me to stretch, to expand, to champion me when I am way out of my comfort zone and experimenting with so many new, bolder ways of working, ways of living life. Thank you for celebrating with me my wins.
I appreciate so deeply the work that has gone into creating the version of you that I know today. There is a uniqueness to your way of being with another that is so very special, so very powerful, so very safe.
Thank you for being the one willing to say to me what needed to be said. The one to point out the way to freedom. And the one to spot the 1% difference I was looking for. But not just spot it, to put words to it, And to help me work out how to live, breathe and be that 1% in action.
Here are some of my biggest lessons I have learned from the time we have had together so far:
1) Love and hurt are partners.
2) The connection to my agency is everything.
3) The FEELING of creating from love not fear. (Words will never capture how big this one has been, and I know there is more to discover here)
4) Allowing everything, accommodating very little.
5) Making a powerful ask.
And my current project: 6) Creating more whilst doing less.
Not to mention all of the ways I can be with someone that you model so powerfully with me.
So thank you from the bottom of my heart, I wish for you the most magical birthday yet.
And PS: I know you will say that YOU were not the investment, that I am the investment, but that wouldn't make such an emotional and meaningful birthday message now would it, so I'm using creators licence here :-)
