Embracing Change: How the Fear of Losing Became My Gain.

Fear of losing what we've worked hard to build can paralyse us from the growth we're capable of. I lived in this state for most of my life, an undertone of needing to keep hold of what I had like these things were some kind of lifeline. Then one question shifted my perspective: "When you're afraid of losing that, what would you love to create or gain?"

The Past: A Safety Net Built on Fear

I never wanted to lose the business, relationships, or the personal achievements I'd worked tirelessly to secure. The sweat, tears, and time spent seemed too valuable to risk. I thought that losing what I had meant retracing my, at times, hard and painful journey, I didn’t like that idea much and so there I was unknowingly and innocently clinging on with all my might, and at the same time, fencing myself into playing small.

The Flawed Understanding

Here's the myth I discovered: The journey back to here would not be the same because I am not the same. Over six years of personal growth, coaching, and transformation have made me a different person. I've nurtured a state of surrender and built my life on effortless, joyful creativity. So, even if I lost everything, I'd still retain this upgraded version of myself. I have not lost everything; in fact, the basis for creating anew is much stronger now.

A Shift in Perspective

Acknowledging this, my perspective began to shift. I realised that my starting point wasn't from scratch but from a platform of experience and wisdom. I saw that my fear was based on an outdated view of myself. The question—what would you love to create or gain?—started making sense. It unshackled my thinking and allowed me to embrace my power, and with that, the freedom of potential and opportunity.

The Power of Letting Go

Fear makes us hoard experiences, relationships, and even jobs that have served their purpose. But what if letting go is exactly what we need to ascend to the next level of our life? It's like the universe nudges us, sometimes forcibly, to empty our hands so we can grasp something greater.

When I finally stopped resisting and opened my hands, I began to see what truly mattered and different emotions and energy started to fill my body. The loss created room for things that aligned with my evolved self. It wasn't a step back but a leap forward into a more fulfilling future.

The New Creation Process

This transformation didn't just change my circumstances; it changed my relationship with the process of creation itself. I chose to lean into love, lightness, and fun. These became the materials for my new life canvas, providing a richer palette than ever before. The weight of fear and reluctance was replaced with a more bouncy energy - one of inspiration, adventure and certainty in myself.

So if you find yourself clinging to what you have, fearful of losing it, consider shifting your focus. Ask yourself: "When I'm afraid of losing that, what would I love to create or gain?" You might just find that the act of letting go, becomes your biggest gain. Embrace the blank canvas before you and repaint your life, not as a task of hard labor, but as an act of love. Because the truth is, you're a different artist now, capable of creating a masterpiece that the older version of you couldn't even imagine.
